(See News articles) 2pm Thursday, 8 November, 2007 Lyceum Club, Melbourne Michael Lawriwsky spoke to members of the Lyceum Club’s History Circle and their guests on the eve of Remembrance Day. Monday 8 October, 6.30pm Readings Carlton, 309 Lygon St Australian Institute of International Affairs Professor Geoffrey Blainey was in conversation with author Dr. Michael Lawriwsky, Director of the Allen Consulting Group. Michael's new book Hard Jacka is the first novel that has been written about the exploits of Albert Jacka, VC, Australia's first Victoria Cross winner, and the men of the 14th Battalion First AIF during the Great War. Themes explored include: Australian values and national identity, mateship, leadership, sportsmanship, larrikin humour, ambition, class conflict, bravery, life, death and the future that was lost. Dr Lawriwsky signed a number of books at the conclusion of the evening. |
