Captain Alfred ‘Lofty’ Williamson


Captain Alfred ‘Lofty’ Williamson in a 1916 Melbourne High School magazine, where he formerly taught Manual Arts. As an Australian Rules footballer he played 11 games for Carlton in 1912-14, and 8 games for Melbourne in 1914. The son of Reuben and Annie Williamson, he was born in Cowwarr, near Toongabbie, in Victoria’s Gippsland, in 1893, and attended Sale Agricultural High School from 1909 to 1910.
